The Start Line

The “Running for the bay!” 5K is held in beautiful Apalachicola, Florida. From Apalachicola, the 5K swings up the Gorrie Bridge (Named after Physician John Gorrie, the inventor of refrigeration as a byproduct of his fight against Malaria) for approximately half its distance. While racing out, you'll see a breath-taking view of the bay and St. George Island to the east. At the halfway point, the race turns and heads back. While racing, you'll see majestic views toward the west of the most pristine estuary in America.

The Finish Line

As the race re-enters Apalachicola, the crowd enthusiasm will make you feel like running another 5K, albeit after a well deserved rest. Upon crossing the finish line, you’ll receive your “Running by the bay!” 5K medal and the right to say, “You did it!” You’ve accomplished what only a few can do, enjoy the glory!

Time limit: Course is open for all races for 8 hours!
